About Cards For DOS - Beta 1.0 (1994) -------------------------------------- This utility is for those of us who use the Windows Cardfile program but find ourselves in DOS and in need of our cardfile sometimes. Instead of loading Windows just to get at your cardfile, just load C4D instead! The program is small and loads fast. Especially handy for laptop users. (You need a number but the laptop is off. You turn it on and don't need to wait for Windows to start just to get at the information you seek. Now you don't have to wait.) The program does not allow file editing but it does offer some search features that the Windows program doesn't. Create and edit your cardfiles in Windows. (A sample cardfile is included with some handy numbers.) How to Use ---------- Start Cards For DOS by typing C4D and pressing the ENTER key. To load your cardfile, select the Open option from the File menu. Type the cardfile's name and path. The path is required if it is not in the current directory. A sample cardfile called C4D.CRD is provided if you don't have any of your own. You can type C4D.CRD to load it after starting the program. The sample cardfile contains some numbers for credit cards, airlines, software vendors, and software catalog houses. It also contains my address. To load the sample cardfile with one command, type SHOWME instead of C4D. (I've created a batch file to automatically load it using that command.) Once a cardfile is loaded, use PGUP and PGDN to scroll through the deck. Press the F1 key for an expanded list of keystrokes and shortcuts.
